Kumbhabishekam performed

As scheduled the kumbhabishekam of Sri Kamakshi ambal sametha Anigopanather kovil started on 27.8.10. at 10 am with Vinayagar puja and Punyahavachanam.and navaghraha homam. More then five Sivachariyars took part in the program .the Deeparathanai was witnessed by many devotees. In the afternoon a lecture was organized by the village people and was performed by Srimathi Revathi Bhaskar about Sivapuranam

Evening the puja stared around 6 PM .Vasthusanthi puja  followed by pravesabali, Kalasasthapanam and yagasalapuja. More then 20 Sivachariyas performed puja. Many people of Kaniyanur village who are settled in Chennai attended the puja along with local devotees.

On 28th morning all the sivachariyars performed Deva Reshi pethru tharpanam called veshesha santhi. This special puja was done by them in the Veeraragavaperumal kovil. After that they performed yagasalapuja. The poornahuthi was performed around 1 PM. Many natives of the village settled in other places like Hyderabad and Pune worshipped the Lord.

Afternoon a beautiful lecture was given by well known Pandit Ramajothi Bharathiyar & Umarani.

Evening puja started around 7 PM Yaaga pooja, Ashtabandhanam, Naadisandhaanam and culminated in Deeparathanai Many devotees attended the puja.

On 29th after yagasalai puja Maha Kumbabishegam was performed. Thousands of people witnessed the Kumbabishegam.

At 7 PM Kamakshi Anigopanathar Thirukkalyanam was also performed.

Annadanam was also done from 6 AM to 10 PM in a well organized manner by the local people with the help of others interested in this

Renovation of ancient temple 




The renovation work at Sri Kamakshi Ambal Samedha Sri Anigopanathar temple, Kaniyanur village, near Thimiri town in Thiruvannamalai district, is under way. This temple which is believed to have been built by King Kulothunga Cholan about 1000 years ago, is unique in ways more than one. The temple Sivachariyar describes the significance – the lingam is in square form and the Goddess is believed to reside on the Avudai platform. The sthala vruksham is Vilvam. tree. The renovation is expected to be wrapped up in a couple of months and the kumbabishekam will be held on August 29, between 9.30 and 10.30 a.m.
The consecration will be done for the principal deities Vinayakar, Murugar, Navagraha shrines and the parivaramurthis. The estimated cost for one kaala puja will be around Rs. 25,000. Contributions are welcome.

Dear fellow devotees,

The kumbhabishekam is slated for 29/8/2010 - in the ongoing vikruthi year, Aavani 13, Panchami thithi and aswini star between 9.30 am and 10.30 am in tula lagnam. The consecration will be done for Swami, ambal, vinayakar, murugar,  navagraha shrines and the parivara murthies. The ceremonies will commence on 27th august, 2010.

It has been estimated that one kaala puja will take about Rs 25000. We request all devotees to take part in the ceremonies and also contribute physically and financially to this holy endeavor.

The small village Kaniyanur, near Thimiri town (which is close to Arcot) in Thiruvannamalai district hosts the Sri Kamakshi ambal sametha Sri Anigopanathar temple. This temple which is believed to have been built by the Great Kulothunga Cholan about 1000 years back. The temple sivachariyar describes the significance of the temple in the form the lingam in square form and ambal belived to reside on the avudai platform. The sthala vruksham is the Vilvam tree.

This temple renovation, spearheaded by the villagers, is expected to be wrapped up in a month or two and the Kumbhabhishekam ceremony will take place after that.
